HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - A Hope College history professor is running again for the 2nd District congressional seat in west Michigan now held by U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra.
The Holland Sentinel says Fred Johnson plans to officially announce his candidacy Wednesday evening during a rally in Holland.
Johnson ran for the seat in 2008 but lost to Hoekstra, a Holland Republican first elected in 1992.
A phone message seeking comment was left at Johnson's office.
Hoekstra isn't running for re-election to the seat in 2010 because he's seeking the Republican nomination for governor. Democrat Jennifer Granholm will leave office after eight years.
At least four others have announced campaigns or publicly expressed an interest in running for the 2nd District seat. All are Republicans.
