BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A 53-year-old Mount Pleasant woman has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for conspiring to defraud the U.S. Postal Service.
U.S. District Judge Thomas Ludington also on Tuesday sentenced Bobbie Jean Sinko to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution. She was convicted earlier this year on 31 fraud-related and embezzlement counts.
Authorities say Sinko and Matthew English skimmed hundreds of thousands of dollars while Sinko worked at the Mount Pleasant Post Office from 2004 to 2007.
Sinko's lawyer, Steven Jacobs, tells The Bay City Times his client "was set up to fail."
The 49-year-old English was sentenced to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to 33 counts of conspiring to defraud the postal service.
