A murder suspect accused of killing a Hillsdale County man is behind bars after being arrested at a homeless shelter west of Chicago. Investigators believe 49-year-old James McKinney shot and killed his roommate James Harper. Harper was found dead at his Jefferson Township home Saturday.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office discovered McKinney had been arrested for a traffic stop in Illinois where he identified himself with the name of the murder victim. McKinney is being held at an Illinois jail pending return to Hillsdale County.
