At least one person is dead after a canoe tipped over in an Ingham County lake.

The lake is near the intersection of Columbia and Edgar Roads, just west of Mason.

The sheriff says two people were fishing in Columbia Lake on Tuesday afternoon. 

Around 5:30 p.m., a neighbor called to say the canoe flipped over and two people fell in the water.

A sheriff's office dive team recovered the body of one man around 7 p.m. They called off the search shortly afterwards because it got too dark.
