TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A former Michigan resident has been sentenced to six years in prison in connection with an alcohol-related car crash last year that killed a Tucson man.
Pima County prosecutors say 22-year-old Elizabeth Tuccini also was ordered Friday to 10 years probation. She was convicted last month of negligent homicide, aggravated driving under the influence and criminal damage.
Tuccini moved to Tucson from Allen Park, Mich, in November 2008 to help her uncle with the Arizona branch of her family's produce company.
Prosecutors say Tuccini was speeding on Interstate 10 on Dec. 20, 2008, when her pickup truck collided head-with a vehicle driven by Marco Salazar, who was 10 days shy of his 55th birthday.
Authorities say tests showed Tuccini's blood-alcohol level was 0.187; the legal limit in Arizona is 0.08.
They also say her Michigan driver's license had been suspended for failing to pay a fine.
