ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) - A 28-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial in the hit & run deaths of 3 women in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

A Mackinac County judge ruled Friday that Dustan Bowen of Sanford should be tried on 16 felony charges including second-degree murder.

Police say Bowen's vehicle hit 10 people attending a family reunion as they walked along a Newton Township road on July 25. Killed were 26-year-old Jonel Hoogterp and 31-year-old Julie Hatch, both of Durham, N.C., and 24-year-old Sara Dobbrastine of Kent City. Two other people were injured.

A State Police physician testified a combination of 5 prescription drugs detected in a sample of Bowen's blood taken after the crash could have delayed his reaction time. Bowen's attorneys argued there was no way of telling when he took the medication.
