DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - Defending national champion Minnesota Duluth is moving on in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Bulldogs beat Nebraska-Kearney 42-7 in a second-round game on Saturday. They'll host Grand Valley State next Saturday at noon in the quarterfinals. They've won 27 of their last 28 games.
Also in the Minnesota small-college ranks, St. Thomas has advanced in the Division III playoffs. The Tommies beat Monmouth College in Illinois 43-21 on Saturday, and they'll host Coe College of Iowa at noon next Saturday on their campus in St. Paul.
This is the first season St. Thomas has won 10 games in school history.
Coe won at MIAC rival St. John's 34-27 on Saturday.
