HANCOCK, Mich. (AP) - Finlandia University says it has released men's hockey coach Joe Burcar for what it says were "institutional policy violations."
The school announced the action Monday. A news release didn't reveal the details, and a message seeking comment was left with athletic director Chris Salani.
For now, Salani will fill in as coach. The Hancock-based school says it will conduct a national search for a permanent replacement after the 2009-10 season.
The Lions play in NCAA Division III.
