COLDWATER, Mich. (AP) - A defense lawyer says a southern Michigan man accused of shooting and killing his wife will take the witness stand.
Attorney J. Thomas Schaeffer tells the Battle Creek Enquirer he typically has his clients testify in capital cases.
He expects 41-year-old Tom Foley to take the stand on Tuesday at his murder trial in Coldwater. Foley is charged with open murder in the death of 41-year-old Dee Dee Foley.
She was found Feb. 7 at their home in Branch County's Girard Township. She taught for 19 years at Union City Community Schools.
Foley faces life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder. The jury also may convict him on the lesser charge of second-degree murder.
The trial began Nov. 10.
