KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Charlie Todd returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for the game-winning points in Ball State's 22-17 victory over Western Michigan on Tuesday night.

MiQuale Lewis' 3-yard run accounted for Ball State's only offensive touchdown. Ian McGarvey kicked three field goals for the Cardinals (2-10, 2-6 Mid-American).

Tim Hiller completed 33 of 62 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown for the Broncos (5-7, 4-4), but he was intercepted four times.

However, Hiller now has 3,249 passing yards this season and joined Ben Roethlisberger, Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich as the only quarterbacks in MAC history to throw for 3,000 yards in back-to-back-to-back seasons.

Jordan White caught a TD pass and Brandon West ran 1 yard for a score.

Western Michigan outgained Ball State 463 yards to 226.
