Tips for staying safe:

1. Create a family plan and make sure all family members know what to do.

2. When a storm or tornado warning is issued, go to your basement or an interior room of your house.

-stay away from windows

-cover your head with a pillow or blanket

-don't forget your pets!

3. Keep a supply kit in your safe room. Include:

Flashlight & extra batteries

Radio tuned to 87.7 fm

First-Aid kit

4. If you are caught in your car, find a public building nearby, like a mall or grocery store and go inside.

-do not go to a highway overpass

-if you are in a rural area with no shelter in sight, pull over and get into a ditch or low lying area as a last resort
