UPDATE: 13-year old boy dies when hit by train in Meridian Township

UPDATE: Meridian Township Police have confirmed that a 13-year-old boy hit and killed by a train Monday was an eighth grader at Haslett Middle School. School counselors are available to talk with any students at the school and extra counselors being brought in from the area if needed.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich (WLNS) - Sources have confirmed to 6 News that a teenage boy was killed by an eastbound train in Meridian Township.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m.

The body of a 13-year-old boy has been found west of Marsh Road.

Investigators are at the scene near Haslett and Marsh Roads where the train has stopped.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident, call the Meridian Township Police Department at 517-853-4800 or submit a tip anonymously through the department Facebook page.
