Jim Geyer

 Return to Team

Jim is back home at WLNS after working for four years in the Flint/Saginaw TV market. He was here previously from 1990 to 2004 and was part of the first team that started a morning newscast on WLNS. He brings over 30 years of weather experience to WLNS viewers, all of which has been forecasting weather in Michigan. His career started in radio, providing weathercasts during the night for WJR-AM in Detroit for 13 years. The remainder of his work has been primarily in television. Jim looks forward to continuing the tradition of great weather coverage on WLNS.

While not at work, Jim loves to work in his garden. Roma tomatoes and zucchini are two crops that must be grown each year. His wife has three different recipes for zucchini bread and also loves fresh ingredients from the garden for chili.

Jim has been married to his wife Jane for over 30 years. They love to travel, ride roller coasters and are both certified scuba divers. While they have dived in Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, the warmer waters of the tropics somehow get visited much more often. Their travel has taken them to the Aruba, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Saba, St. Lucia, The Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii and Tahiti, just to name a few places. They are both volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.

Jim received an Associate of Arts degree from Concordia University in Ann Arbor and a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science degree from The University of Michigan. While at Michigan, he was part of a research team following industrial pollution from the western Great Lakes states into Michigan. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and is a charter member of the National Weather Association. He holds the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for his television weathercasts.
