WLNS TV 6 Lansing - Jackson | Your Local News LeaderEvan Pinsonnault

Evan Pinsonnault

Evan Pinsonnault, your morning anchor and features reporter at WLNS TV-6, grew up in the scenic Berkshires of western, MA before heading to Washington, D.C. for college at The George Washington University.  He left our nation's capitol with a Bachelor's Degree in political science and a minor in theatre and then went on to Syracuse, NY for his graduate work, earning a Master's Degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

From there, he began his professional television career in Macon, GA at 13WMAZ, working as a reporter, news anchor and sports anchor over a two-and-a-half year period, winning multiple journalistic awards.

Macon then led Evan to Lansing, where he settled into the morning anchor chair at TV-6 in the summer of 2009.  Now the main features reporter at the station as well, Evan started his own franchise called Pick a Place for Pinsonnault, airing creative and entertaining stories throughout the year focused on the positive news of Mid-Michigan locales.  He also reinvented the popular Tell Me Something Good segment that highlights "the good news stories" of people and events in the community each week.

Evan's visibility on-air is mirrored by his involvement in the community—he's an active volunteer for the Capital Area United Way, Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan, the ePIFanyNow movement, and various humane societies and other causes. He also serves on two boards in downtown Lansing: the YMCA and the Riverwalk Theatre (where he's earned two local acting awards for roles in plays and musicals).

Mid-Michigan has voted Evan for a City Pulse Top of the Town Award as "Best TV Personality" and the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce named Evan one of the ten most influential young professionals in the community, honoring him with a prestigious "10 Over the Next Ten" award (he's the only media personality to have ever received the distinction in the five years it's been handed out). Journalistically, Evan recently received the Michigan Association of Broadcaster's Award for Best Feature Reporting, and the state Associated Press recognized his work for outstanding individual reporting.

His love for storytelling and working at TV-6 matches his appreciation of the greater Lansing community.  And when not at work or volunteering, he enjoys playing golf, working out, sleeping in, stand-up comedy (he's a frequent performer at Connxtions comedy club) and meeting new people, which he does often as an emcee and host of such events like the Common Ground Music Festival, the Mint Festival Pageant, Lansing's Jazz Fest and numerous other charitable organization and non-profit activities.
