Raising awareness about breast cancer takes a creative turn thanks to one local woman and a familiar team of TV-6 talent.

"This is the big and important part of the event, the bras, because it makes it fun," said Barb McKessy, co-founder.

The event, "It's A Breast Thing" fundraiser, is being held on October 4 at Eagle Eye Golf Club. At the event survivors will model bras decorated creatively by community members and they will then go up for bid. One of the bras was created by  The 6 In The City team.

"It's a Breast Thing is a charity that helps breast cancer patients going through treatment with their out of pocket expenses," said McKessy.

The money raised from the decorating event and modeling show will stay in Lansing. But McKessy hopes to reach out to more communities in the future.

"Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee...I would love to get the bra decorating out to those cities," said McKessy.

Again, the "It's A Breast Thing" event takes place Tuesday October 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eagle Eye Golf Club.
