Wednesday there are new details in Tuesday's South Lansing shooting.
Police say they're closing in on a person of interest who possibly has ties to the Muskegon area.
LPD contacted police departments in the Grand Rapids area who are now on the look-out for the driver of a green Durango.
Tuesday's shooting left Michael Adams dead. The 23-year-old was shot in the parking lot of Von's Market.
The crime scene is located near a few south side schools. Which drummed up concern about the safety of students.
A suspected killer is still on the loose, which raised some eyebrows with parents.
After the shooting Pleasant View Magnet school didn't send kids home early, nor did they enforce a lock down.
The crime happened on the corner of Pleasant Grove and Holmes roads. Pleasant View school is only half a mile away.
Witnesses say the suspect drove southbound, so it is possible he passed the school.
School administrators say the Lansing Police Department advised them that they were in control of the situation and that none of our schools were at risk. The shooting happened right before 3 p.m. So Pleasant View students were still in class. Their final bell rings at 3:49.
Parents have mixed reactions on how officials handled the situation. @
"I think they should have locked down the school. Yeah I'm upset. They still haven't caught the guy and he might have parked right here where we at," said Patricia Pugh , parent of a Pleasant View student.
"I have full faith in the school here and protecting my children and making sure everybody's okay. Every time I go to pick them up there's always someone there when I walk in," said Theresa Rinker, parent of Pleasant View students.
"None of the information we had initially indicated endangerment of any of our school children," said Lt. Noel Garcia, LPD.
Police say they have a good lead on the suspect, but they still want tips. They urge anyone with information to call 9-1-1.
