New Legislation on Disposal of Fetuses Moves Forward

Posted:

New legislation to revise the way Michigan abortion clinics dispose of the remains of a fetus moved forward Thursday.

The Senate passed the measure that outlines new requirements for proper disposal. It also requires doctors to inform parents about the state law that mandates them to authorize the final disposition of their fetus.

Violators could face fines of up to $1,000 for an improper disposal of remains. Local State Senator Rick Jones sponsored the bill.

This comes after the remains of 17 fetuses were found in the dumpster of an abortion clinic in Delta Township last year.
