Dancers From Holt To Perform In Macy's Day Parade

A group of local dancers will celebrate Turkey Day on the world's biggest stage.

They're heading to New York City for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The invitation means a lot to the group and the community.

If you watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year, the floats won't be the only big attraction. Nearly a dozen dancers from Karen's Dance Place in Holt will be front and center, performing in the annual holiday event.

"I've always wanted to go to NYC and to be dancing in the parade is just the perfect way to go," said dancer Allison Pingston.

They're toe-tapping talents during Pistons games, Spartan games and major festivals earned them an invitation to the big apple for the big Turkey Day performance.

"A lot of staying after class...a few weeks trying to learn it," said dancer Lily Brown.

"Our girls are very professional. During the week they have rehearsals everyday. It'll be fun and stressful but very exciting," said instructor Karyn Perry.

These dancers couldn't agree more, especially since the parade will be on national TV right here on CBS.

"I don't think it matters. There's millions of people on TV, just the people I know that'll be watching, that'll add a little more nervousness to it," said Pingston.

"We'll have a lot of fun and even if we're dead tired when we get back, it'll be unforgettable," said Brown.
