Friends and Family Remember Missing Skelton Brothers 1 Year Later

Posted:

One year later, the hope to find three missing boys from a small Southern Michigan town continues. A year ago three young brothers from Morenci went missing over Thanksgiving weekend. And today friends and family gathered to remember nine year old Andrew--- seven year old Alexander and five year old tanner skelton. The boys were last seen with their father John Skelton.

He says he gave the boys to an under-ground organization to protect them from his now ex-wife. However. police don't believe him and are investigating the case as a murder. But with all that aside, the community came together Sunday to show they haven't given up hopes of finding them.

The boys mom Tanya Zuvers said "if you would have told me a year ago we would have been standing here now...I would have went no." Tears, Smiles and hugs as a community comes together to remember three young boys. It's been a year since Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton went missing from Morenci.

The boys Grandpa Don Zuvers said "their still out there, their still alive, somebody has them somebody knows something, we just got to get that one piece of evidence." Their family still believes their alive and with the whole community behind them are still searching for answers.

Its something that has changed this small town and both family and police couldn't be more thankful for the support given in the past year. Morenci police Chief Larry Weeks said "in that room I saw state police investigators and FBI sleeping in their chair refusing to go home to their families because our family was more important."

Weeks got a standing ovation for all he's done to try and solve this case and Sunday was about keeping those thoughts and prayers alive so one day it can be solved. The boys sister Courtney Derby said "when we do get those boys back I hope everyone here today comes back for that homecoming home party that we will have."

Tanya Zuvers adds "they are away from mom, they have a niece that was born this year that they have not met…I have a granddaughter and she's going to be 1 and the boys haven't met them yet…its time for them to come home."

John Skelton, the boys father is currently serving time after being convicted of unlawful imprisonment. Morenci police say they have received nearly 1,200 tips and encourage anyone with information to call them.
