Michigan State Police say Trooper Drew Spencer was back on the job Thursday.
In September, he was nearly killed in the line of duty. Spencer was hit by a car during a traffic stop on eastbound interstate 96 near Wallace road in Leroy Township. Spencer was hospitalized and has been at home recovering for the past few months.
"The support for Trooper Spencer and his family has been overwhelming and very much appreciated," said Lt. Edward l. Hay. "This has been a very humbling experience for everyone involved."
Trooper Drew Spencer was training in Diamondale Thursday night.
"The seriousness of his crash being out on the freeway, cars going at high speeds by you... and then to be back within three months is really nothing short of amazing," said Sgt. John Faccio.
MSP Trooper Spencer will be with a training officer for a few weeks before going back out on his own.
