The man Michigan State Police say struck a state trooper on I-96 in September was in court Wednesday to hear his charges.
50-year-old Mark Kollar of Eastlake, Ohio is facing one felony charge of failing to use due care when passing a stationary emergency vehicle causing injury and one misdemeanor count of moving violation causing serious harm.
The charges stem from a crash on September 4 on I-96 in Livingston County. That's when MSP say Kollar hit Trooper Drew Spencer of the MSP Lansing Post. Spencer was on the side of the freeway making a routine traffic stop.
Spencer returned to work in mid-December after a lengthy recovery at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Kollar faces up to 2 years in prison and $1,500 in fines.
