Meijer Donates Nearly $10,000 In Merchandise To St. Vincent De Paul

Meijer has donated nearly $10,000 in merchandise and gift cards to Lansing's Saint Vincent de Paul thrift store.

Back in December a fire destroyed Saint Vincent's building on South Washington. Meijer donated shelves, racks and office displays for the charity to use in its temporary location. Two local Meijer stores also made cash donations in the form of Meijer gift cards.

St. Vincents' new store is expected to open on January 28 at 10 a.m. at 5206 S. Cedar in Lansing. The non-profit helps about 250 people a month with utilities, furniture and clothing.

St. Vincent officials say the nonprofit is still in need of some big items, including cash registers, shopping carts and customers.

"It would be a blessing gif people continue to give, and when our doors open, come in and shop," said Marcia Maiville, president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Annually, Meijer donates more than 6 percent of its net profits to charity.
