MSU Students Push For 100% Dependence On Renewable Energy

Posted:

Students gathered in front of the administration building at Michigan State Uninversity Friday to announce a plan to make the school 100% dependent on renewable energy.

The students say their plan should be considered by the school board to be the road-map for the school's long-term energy plan. The student's plan rails against a federal steering committee proposal that they say would make the school's energy supply only 40% renewable.

"We talked to six of the eight board members and they are willing to set up meetings with us and hear what we have to say and we can present our completed presentation to them in the beginning of March so I think we are hopeful that they are open to what we have to say and looking forward to those meetings with them," said Callie Bruley, MSU Beyond Coal.

The school board will vote on a plan on April 13.
