Walmart Donates Refrigerated Truck To Mid-Michigan Food Bank

Posted:

Feeding the hungry just got a little easier for the Mid-Michigan Food Bank thanks to Walmart.

The national retailer donated a new 24 foot refrigerated truck to the food bank. The truck is worth $100,000. The food bank says the donation will go a long way toward helping people across mid-Michigan.

"Even though we are nationwide, we really like to give back to our communities and give back locally, and this is one way we get to be local and to help out," said Diane Behnke, Walmart market manager.

"We're able to really guarantee that the food that we get is safe, we can take it back to the warehouse, inspect it and get it out to the community and be efficient when we are doing that so we are not making a lot of trips because we have a small truck, we have a much larger truck. It's a blessing, it's a great thing to have," said Dave Karr, director, Mid-Michigan Food Bank.

The Wal-mart company has donated more than 20 refrigerated trucks across the nation. This is the third they've donated in Michigan.
