Sweetie-Licious Pie Shop in Dewitt is hosting an event in honor of Martha Dixon Monday. The legendary Lansing TV food personality spent some 25 years here at TV 6 during the 1950's and 60's. Dixon passed away nearly three years ago at the age of 88.
The Dewitt pie shop is hosting a Martha Dixon Day" in her honor. The shop will follow the recipes in Martha's cookbook and give out free samples of her most popular dishes, which include her sour cream cookies, grasshopper pie, and chicken salad with almonds.
The owner of the shop says she remembers watching Martha and says the one-time queen of Lansing TV was an inspiration to all.
"She just really showed us and showed me how much food is important in our traditions and our world to make our life richer and better and she did that so beautifully," said Linda Hundt, Sweetie-Licious owner.
