A Big Honor For A Small City

Posted:

A Bloomberg Businessweek Report reveals its opinion for the best city to raise a child in the state and they say it's the 5th best across the country.

For the second year in a row, it's a good time to be living in Spring Arbor, just ask Joshua Walz.

"It really just makes you feel good that you are in area that you love and people care about the community," Walz said.

Joshua has lived there his entire life, he is fireman and a father.

"All the basketball for the kids, the parks, we are always at lime lake, Sunday afternoon with the boat, taking kids tubing," Walz said.

Quality of life and quality time with family.

The main reason why Spring Arbor was voted the best city in the state to raise a family in this year's Bloomberg Magazine.

But it's not just parents who enjoy life there, so do kids like sixth grader Jimmy Anderson.

"I play football during the summer and basketball during the winter and also run cross country," Anderson said.

No matter the season, Jann Kilgore says the town of 2000 people is close knit.

"People say you don't dare say anything about anyone because everybody knows everybody and that could be a bad thing, but it's not," Kilgore said.

A small town, a big family, grounded in faith.

Kilgore cherishes the good Christian education offered at nearby Spring Arbor University.

"There is a lot of opportunity to grow, mature, and use good moral context to grow up in," Kilgore said.

Growing up, growing old and growing together, yes, it's good to be living in Spring Arbor.

This is the sixth year the Bloomberg report was issued and residents say it is the perfect location, less than an hour from big cities like Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo and Lansing.
