Human Trafficking Discussion at Cooley Law

Posted:

Cooley Law School is working to bring attention to the global issue of human trafficking.

New statistics show there are about 27 million people enslaved in human trafficking operations around the world. But experts say it's not just happening in other places. It's happening right here in Michigan and it's hard to track.

"It is a local issue. Slavery is just about everywhere in our lives. It's in our environment, certainly in the areas of prostitution, escort services, massage parlors, nail salons," said Chris Johnson, Cooley Professor & Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force.

You're invited to join in the discussion Friday night from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Cooley Law School will hold a live video simulcast on human trafficking. Everyone is encouraged to take part to help brainstorm solutions.

That forum will be held at four of Cooley's campuses, including the one in Lansing on Capitol avenue.
