Suspect To Stand Trial In Double Murder

Posted:

Christopher Perrien is accused of shooting and killing former Michigan State Police Trooper Mike Greene and his wife Terri at their home in September. Now, Perrien is on trial for the murders.

Perrien sat in the courtroom for the second day of his preliminary hearing Tuesday. It was another long day in court, packed full of family and friends of the Greene's.

Prosecutors called several witnesses to the stand. Michigan State Police Sgt. Jeff Amley testified as a firearm and tool mark examiner. He said through testing fired bullets they found a match with a gun police say was found in a storage unit Perrien allegedly used after the murders.

"I identified the Smith and Wesson revolver to 5 of the fired lead bullets or portions there of to 4 the fired bullet jackets," said Amley.

The defense was quick to question Sgt. Amley's findings.

"I don't know where the piece of evidence came from, I just know what's on the label and I document that," said Amley.

One of the biggest pieces of evidence that came out Tuesday involved what an Eaton County detective and computer expert found on a GPS unit found in the defendant's car.

Eaton County Detective Jeff Fellows testified Perrien's GPS indicated the defendent's car drove by the Greene's home the day before the murders and was there the day of.

While there was much discussion on what evidence is worthy or not, it came down to one thing.

"What's before the court to decide... do we have probable cause to show that a crime was committed. Two murders, two felony firearms... and do we have the defendant present today and the information shown that he's the person who did it?" said prosecuting attorney, Douglas R. Lloyd.

Perrien was bound over for trial in circuit court Tuesday. Perrien is expected to be in court again next Thursday.
