“Big Pour” Begins at New Board of Water and Light Plant

Lansing Board of Water and Light's new facility in REO Town is expected to be covered with concrete on Wednesday.

Construction of the 182 million dollar plant began this past summer.

Crews will pour 1,300 cubic yards of concrete, which equals enough to cover one and a half football fields.

Once finished, the facility will use natural gas to produce electricity and steam.

It is expected to employ about 180 workers, and open in 2013.
