The daughter of a late jazz great will take the stage at East Lansing's Wharton Center Thursday night.
Simone says she'll perform with band members from her cd, Simone on Simone. Her performance is a tribute to her late mother Nina Simone, a jazz singer and pianist.
Thursday night's performance will enconpass some of her favorite Nina Simone songs, as well as a few original songs that she wrote for her mother.
"I figured if I was coming out the starting gate doing what I've been wanting to do for so long, what better way to do that then paying homage to the one who walked before me," said Simone.
Simone will perform at the Wharton Center at 7:30 Thursday night. Tickets are $38 dollars for adults and $15 dollars for students.
