The Wayne County sheriff's department says an inmate escaped from a transport van in Detroit and was on the loose.
The sheriff's department says Kcajun Juromill Burton fled about 5:15 p.m. Thursday on the city's west side. No injuries were reported.
The sheriff's department and Michigan State Police searched for him following the escape.
He's described as a black male, about 5-foot-3 and 130 pounds. He was wearing green pants, a white shirt and white socks.
The sheriff's department says the search was ongoing early Friday. They're asking the public to call authorities immediately if he's spotted.
