Santorum Back In Michigan

Meanwhile, the GOP presidential race is heating up in Michigan and former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Rick Santorum was back in the state Monday, trying to lengthen his lead in the polls.

He's making 3 stops in the state's conservative stronghold, west Michigan.

Santorum appeared in Muskegon and Holland Monday afternoon and will address the Kent County Lincoln Day dinner Monday night at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids.

In Muskegon, he laid out part of his economic strategy, including an end to the corporate tax.

"We're going to take the corporate tax. We need to make America to start growing. We need businesses to start growing. I believe that you got to get the private sector going, not the public sector," said Rick Santorum.

Monday morning in eastern Ohio, he criticized President Barack Obama's environmental agenda, saying science is on the side of those who want to aggressively produce more oil and natural gas in America.

Mlive Jackson reports a forum scheduled at Hillsdale College has been canceled after Santorum canceled his appearance.
