Posted: Updated: Feb 21, 2012 04:59 PM EST

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow made an appearance in mid-Michigan Tuesday to promote her Grow it Here, Make it Here initiative.

Her new initiatives would increase capitol for bio-based manufacturers, improve marketing for bio-based manufacturing and promote new agricultural innovations to create new jobs.

She announced those initiatives at a KTM Industries in Lansing, a company that's already going green.

"KTM is really a front runner in looking at the bio-based economy and this is an example of what happens with Michigan state research and like the folks here with the right kind of policies federally and locally to support them," said Senator Debbie Stabenow.

Stabenow is chairwoman of the senate agricultural committee.
