A fire damaged a home on Jackson's east side.
Around 10:30 Tuesday morning a fire started in the kitchen of the home on Gorham Street.
All of the people inside as well as the family dog escaped safely. But there is some damage in the home.
"Primarily smoke damage. The house is going to have all the power and everything shut off to it, so they won't be able to come back today," Richard Terrell, Jackson Fire Department.
Investigators say they're still looking in to exactly how the fire started.
