Changes to the Way Free Publications are Distributed

A decision by a Michigan-based grocery story chain could affect the way you get your news.

According to our media partners at the Lansing City Pulse, Meijer has announced they will no longer allow free publications to be distributed at their stores.

The publisher of City Pulse says that Meijer is making the move for an aesthetic reason... and while he says that Meijer has every right to make the switch, he thinks it's a mistake.

"I'm trying to get across to Meijer that it has become an important hub of community information, again it's not just City Pulse, it's a whole array of free publications that people pick up at their Meijer store and I think they have undervalued that service to their customers," says Berl Schwartz.

Schwartz says Meijer has offered him space on their magazine rack, but he's still trying to get them to reconsider their decision.
