More than $5,000 in cash and three bottles of cough syrup with codeine are seized in Jackson after police investigate what they believed was a drug deal.

According to our media partners at the Jackson Citizen Patriot, it happened around 11:45 Tuesday night.

Officials say they saw a suspicious car pull into a parking lot on Michigan Ave.  They found the car to be a rental... and the 25 year-old driver did not have a license.

Another 25 year-old man was in the car, and officials say he man smelled of marijuana.  Minutes later, a 24 year-old woman showed up and claimed she had given the men her tax return money.

Officials searched the car and found $5,300 in cash and three bottles of cough syrup with different prescriptions attached... none belonging to the three involved.

Police took the money and cough syrup, but no arrests were made.  The report will be sent to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible charges.
