A Clinton County mother is charged with second degree child abuse in the death of her 10-year-old daughter last fall.
47-year-old Kathleen Parker of St. Johns was arraigned Monday afternoon in Clinton County District Court in St. Johns, about 20 miles north of Lansing.
The body of her daughter, Vienna Parker, was found in her bedroom in their St. Johns' home on September 23 when welfare workers arrived to investigate why the girl hadn't been at school. At that time officials say Vienna had been dead about two weeks.
Officials also found Kathleen in the apartment with several self-inflicted cuts and stab wounds.
Authorities were told Vienna was ill and suffered from diabetes.
St. Johns Police say Parker is being charged with child abuse for failing to get medical attention for her daughter. She was jailed Monday on a $1,000 bond. A preliminary examination was set for March 29.
