Cops Say Thieves Steal $100,000 Worth Of Stuff From Walmart

A Walmart cashier is in jail after detectives say he helped a bunch of thieves steal stuff from the store and set up shop in someone's basement.

Detectives made the bust just north of Jackson, on Monday. They say the cashier was part of a group about a half-dozen people who stole $100,000 worth of goods from the Walmart in Blackman Township, just north of Jackson.

Detectives worked with Wal-mart security to bust a ring of thieves using coupon fraud and price switching to get hundreds of items.

On Monday, officers found all a huge set up - in a store format - in someone's basement.

The cashier has been fired and is now in the Jackson County jail. The other suspects have not been arrested or charged yet.

The next challenge for the department is to categorize each item.

6 News reporter Nick Perreault will have more on this story tonight on 6 News at 11.
