It all started with accusations from three young boys, ages 7, 13 and 14. Now, a Delhi Township man faces several felony counts of criminal sexual conduct.
"They're a different type of criminal that have different feelings about the world, life and kids," said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.
Sheriff Wriggelsworth says this man, 57-year-old Lawrence Fredrick Gibbs, has shown no signs of remorse.
He was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of having some type of sexual relationship with three young boys. The investigation started back in December and when officials finally had enough information to arrest the man they had to be careful, because he has a federal firearms license, meaning there could be dozens of guns in his home. @
"We executed a traffic stop and arrested him pursuant to the arrant at that point... We then went back with a search warrant and other investigators and served the search warrant on the house," said Sheriff Wrigglesworth.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce has also been helping out. They're in the process of checking his computer for any other evidence.
"They're going to do a forensic analysis on the computers to see if there's anything that would take us in another direction," said Sheriff Wrigglesworth.
He says cases like this leave him with mixed emotions. @
"On one hand you're pleased that the investigators have the talent to get these types of people off the street. On the other side of the coin it's sad we have to worry about kids encountering these types of people."
This is not Gibbs' first run-in with the law. Thursday 6 News found he was arrested in the mid 2000's in Missaukee County, that's where Cadillac is located.
Court documents show he pleaded guilty to a fourth degree count of criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to two years probation.
The crimes happened between June and October of 1987.
