Popular Restaurant Catches Fire

A popular Lansing restaurant caught fire on Friday morning.

Firefighters tell 6 News that flames broke out at DeLuca's Restaurant and Pizzeria just before noon.

They temporarily closed the roads along the 2000 block of West Willow to help fight the fire.

The fire started in a vent that was connected to an oven. The vent and part of the roof caught fire but was quickly put out.

One oven remains working and the restaurant was open for business less than an hour after the fire broke out.

"It could of spead real quick if it made it to the attic and it could get bad... But we are really lucky," said Chuck Deluca, owner.

The family-owned restaurant, which opened in 1960, consistently wins awards for the area's best pizza.
