Schools Celebrate, Mourn Last "Last Day"

Today was the last day for many kids in Mid-Michigan, but for a handful of schools in Lansing, it was the last-last day. Under Lansing School District's restructuring plan four schools officially closed their doors today.

Those include Elmhurst, Wainwright, Otto Middle School and Bingham Elementary. Bingham would be "mothballed" meaning it would close for the immediate future but potentially be put back into service.

Six News was at Bingham today as they let off balloons and said their goodbyes, for the last time. It was an emotional day for students, parents, teachers and staff, as even past students from years back showed up to offer their support.

Deanna Falzone will take you there for the emotional day tonight on 6 News at 6.
