Officials Expand Antlerless Deer Hunting Territory

Posted:

Michigan wildlife officials are expanding the antlerless deer hunting territory for this fall's hunt.

The Natural Resources Commission on Thursday decided to open more deer management units in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula for hunting.

Those areas are being opened because of increased deer population. A list of open deer management units and their hunting quotas will be published soon in the 2012 Antlerless Deer Hunting Digest.

Antlerless deer license applications go on sale July 15. The Department of Natural Resources says special statewide hunts for youth and disabled veterans will be held Sept. 22-23.
