Vagina Monologues Performed at the Capitol

Posted:

Representative Lisa Brown's speech may have gotten her banned from the House, but it's sparked national attention.

Hundreds gathered in front of the capitol Monday night to protest the censorship of that word.

11 female lawmakers are taking the stage to perform the Vagina Monologues, a play many consider symbolic for women's rights. This demonstration started after Brown used the word "vagina" during a House debate.

This struck up a storm, bringing both sides to the capitol Monday. Feminists were angered that their rights were being taken away. And republicans were also mad saying it was inappropriate behavior.

When 6 News spoke to Representative Brown, she had no idea her speech was going to escalate to this.
