Family Dog Dies in Jackson County Fire

Posted:

An early morning house fire in Jackson County took the life of a family pet.

Blackman Leoni Public Safety officials say they responded to a two story house fire on the 9100 block of Michigan Avenue in Leoni Township just after 1:30a.m. Monday.

The homeowner says his wife heard the fire and both were able to get out of the home safely, however the family dog did not make it.

Fire crews believe it started in the kitchen.

The cause is under investigation but they do not consider it suspicious.
