Detective Agrees To Plead In Abuse Case

A detective with the Ingham County Sheriff's Office agreed to plea to a crime on Tuesday.

That's according to our media partners at mlive.com/lansing.

Joseph Clewley originally faced a felony charge of third degree child abuse. But he agreed to plea to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated domestic violence, according to an assistant Eaton County prosecutor who is handling the case.

Clewley, who has been on the force for the past 12 years, was suspended without pay on May 24th, when he was charged.

The charges carries a penalty of up to a year in jail. Clewley will learn his sentence on August 6th.
