Local Firework Shows Updates

Posted:

People may have to wait until September to see Fourth of July fireworks in Ingham County's Meridian Township. The official date has not been confirmed yet, but township officials hope to have a rescheduled date by the end of this week. Meridian Parks and Recreation Director, LuAnn Maisner said officials are looking at tacking the fireworks show with another township event, possibly the Meridian Heritage Festival on September 22.

The Meridian Township Fourth of July Fireworks show, which is launched from the park behind the Meridian Mall, draws about 15,000 people. The show costs about $18,000 and is paid for by the township's general fund and sponsorships.

Lansing has banned any personal fireworks inside the Adado Riverfront Park during the city's show.

Fireworks scheduled for First Baptist Church of Williamston have been postponed from July 3 to a later date not yet confirmed.
