UPDATE:

A suspect in a credit union robbery is behind bars and has been arraigned. The sheriff credits Facebook for making it happen.

He's being charged with armed robbery and felony firearm. Bond was set at $500,000.

Someone robbed the Jackson City-County Credit Union on Thursday. A short while later, detectives released his picture - taken by surveillance cameras - to the media and posted them on Facebook.

They say they got numerous leads and had the suspect in custody less than 12 hours later.

The sheriff says they recovered the money and the weapon from the 23-year-old Summit Township man.

ORIGINAL STORY: The City County Credit Union in Summit Township was robbed Thursday morning.

The suspect is described as a while in his late 20s, about 5'8" and a slender build. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat and khaki pants.

Sheriff Steve Rand reports the suspect showed a handgun and demanded money from the teller. He then ran from the bank on foot to a vehicle parked close by.

The Sheriff's Office K9 tracked the suspect to the car, but did not find the man.

No one was injured from the incident.

If you have any information, you are urged to contact Detective Sullivan (517) 768-7932 or Detective Watson at (517) 768-7934.
