The man accused of abusing and torturing his girlfriend's young children was in Jackson County Court Monday.
24-year-old Daniel Ronquillo sat and listened as prosecutors tried to make their case against him.
It was back in May when he was arrested, after police say he burned his girlfriend's children in 130-degree bath water.
One investigator testified Ronquillo said he put the children in the tub, left to go do dishes, then heard the one and two-year-olds screaming.
That's when Ronquillo says he ran back in and saw what looked to be toilet paper in the water--then realized it was skin.
The children's mother, Bridget Marks, also took the stand Monday. She says she was on her way to work when she got a call saying the kids were hurt.
"Their bodies were really red. The skin was peeling off. (Prosecutor) What did you do? (Marks) I stood in the hallway. It made me sick to my stomach. I couldn't stand in there."
Marks also said she did not think her bofriend meant to hurt her children.
The hearing did not finish up Monday, it will start back up July 30th, then the judge will decide if there's enough evidence for a trial.
