A Jackson woman kept her friend's dead body in her home for nearly two years.
"It's morbid what I did. It really is. It's horrible," said Linda Chase.
And looking back, she has regrets.
"I will till I die, of course. I'm not heartless. And it's not because I'm lonely, lonely. But I miss him. I could tell him anything," said Chase.
And she did, even after Charles William Zigler was gone.
"Cause I talked to him, and I know that's morbid. I know that's awful. It's awful when I say it. I knew he was dead, but to me, he wasn't," said Chase." "It isn't so much the loneliness. He's my best friend."
Chase said she knows she should have called the ambulance, but never did anything "to be evil."
"But I know what I didn't do, and yes, I'm wrong. I'll know that til I die. But I can't take it back," said Chase.
When asked if she thought she'd be in trouble, Chase said, "probably. It's my fault if I do. What can i do?"
The prosecutor is reviewing the case, but at this point there are no pending charges.
There are no indications of foul play. A Lt. at the Jackson Police Department says Zigler died of natural causes, so they're just looking into what charges this woman could face for not properly handling that death.
