Whistleblower Files Civil Lawsuit Against Enbridge

Posted:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Two years after the toxic Enbridge oil spill leaked about a million gallons of oil into the Talmadge Creek near Battle Creek, a local whistleblower files suit against the company.

In 2010, John Bolenbaugh was an employee with SET Environmental, the company Enbridge contracted to help clean up the spill. Bolenbaugh says Enbridge told SET to order workers to bury the oil, and when he reported the illegal activity to the government, Bolenbaugh says he was fired.

"They told my company…to release me and that I better not be there the very next morning at any job site because I reported an oil cover up to the media, which was making them look bad," says Bolenbaugh.

Bolenbaugh filed the lawsuit on Friday, citing harassment, wrongful termination and illegal oil spill cover ups.
